Fillings

Fillings are an extremely common dental procedure, rendered to restore the function, form and integrity of the missing tooth structure due to decay, fracture or excess wear and tear and closing small spaces between teeth.

Tooth decay occurs over a period of time due to plaque retention. Plaque usually forms from over consuming sugars and improperly cleaning your teeth. When plaque isn’t cleaned, bacteria begin to form and can start to harden on your teeth (tartar).

Cavity Warning Signs

Here are some clear warning signs that you may have a cavity:

  • Consistent ache in a tooth
  • Discoloring of a tooth (Tooth Stain)
  • Teeth sensitivity to hot or cold foods and beverages, especially sugary ones
  • Visible hole or pit in a tooth
  • Pain when biting down

Please visit your dentist if you experience any of these symptoms. We at County Court Dentistry would ensure you receive best possible and affordable treatment for the cavities.

Types of Fillings
Composite Fillings

Composite fillings (also known as white or plastic fillings) are one of the most common types of filling, The procedure involves cutting the tooth with rotary dental handpieces and dental burs or through air abrasion to make space for filling material and to remove decay. Composite resin is placed into the hole in different thinly placed layers. The material sets when UV light placed on it. Following the placement of the last layer, the filling is shaped in place to maintain a natural look/feel. These fillings in most cases match the same colour as your teeth. Lastly the dentist adjusts the filling so that it does not feel high on biting.
